After a dramatic NASCAR AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 in Texas, Tyler Reddick was the first driver to cross the line in the #8 vehicle. Reddick achieved his third career victory in the Chevrolet, but the Texas Motor Speedway race was marred by pandemonium. 16 caution flags were raised, there was a red flag delay, and Cody Ware was taken to the infield medical care center following a dramatic head-on collision where his car slammed the wall on pit road.  Ware has been discharged from the hospital. After nearly six hours of racing in the Texas afternoon that got underway at 15:30 (local time) with the Texas sun beating down on the starting grid, Reddick emerged victorious. The track cooled down by 20 degrees between Stage 1 and Stage 3, which caused drivers to slide about the Speedway, and there was a lengthy delay due to lightning and rain, with Stage 3 finally starting just after 19:45. The weather conditions varied greatly during the stages. The first stage was won by Kyle Larson, and in the first 57 laps, three caution flags were raised. The first one was raised when Martin Truex Jr. skidded entering Turn 4. The #18 driver’s terrible luck in the playoff races continued when Kyle Busch became the next to spin and crashed into the wall on Lap 50. The next playoff competitor to bring out the Caution was Alex Bowman, who hit the wall while in ninth place. Christopher Bell also had a playoff race wrecked by tyre problems in Stage 2. Ryan Blaney won Stage 2, making it his seventh stage victory in Texas. The right side of Chase Elliott’s car, which was driving the #9, was on fire due to a right-rear issue.  Before his weekend came to an end, Elliott was in the lead of the playoffs heading into this race. Early in the Stage 3 restart, both Erik Jones and Kevin Harvick crashed with the wall, but the drama between Denny Hamlin and William Byron was the talk of the stage. Under the Caution signal, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver made contact with the #24 before responding by slamming into Bryon’s vehicle and driving bumper to bumper down the back straight as retaliation for their earlier collision at the end of Stage 2. … Read more
