Here we have compiled lists of all the cities of Qatar that have stadiums and matches along with stadium capacity. A total of 8 stadiums are there which will host the matches of the world cup 2022. We will discuss all the cities and stadiums of the world cup 2022 along with the matches list.

This edition of the world cup will be the first one to be conducted with the fewest number of stadiums(8). Out of the 8 stadiums available, 7 will be newly built. Following  are the 8 stadiums Qatar will be using:

Lusail Stadium

This stadium will be the biggest stadium for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It has a maximum seating capacity of 86250. 5 group stage matches, 1 round of 16 matches, 1 quarterfinal match, a semifinal match, and the final of the competition on 18th December 2022 will be hosted by this venue. The final of the 2022 World Cup will be played at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. It will also undergo a severe reduction in capacity at the end of the tournament.

Al Bayt Stadium

This stadium has a seating capacity of 60000 and is located in the city of Al-Khor. This stadium will be hosting the opener match on 21st November 2022. If you were fortunate enough to reserve a hotel room at Al Bayt Stadium, you will be able to see the field from your balcony.  After the World Cup, the stadium’s capacity will be reduced by almost half, the hotel will be increased, a shopping center will be inaugurated, and a new sporting venue will be constructed.

This stadium is located in AI Rayyan and this stadium also has a maximum seating capacity of 45000 set for this world cup. This stadium will be the venue for 1 quarterfinal match, 1 round of 16 match, and 5 group stage matches during the world cup. List of games hosted at Education City Stadium

A World Cup caliber stadium dubbed the “diamond in the desert,” is now located in Education City, which is merely the name of development in the city of Al Rayyan.

The initial Ahmad bin Ali Stadium for Al Rayyan was constructed in 2003, but it appears that it wasn’t up to par and was destroyed in 2015. Ninety percent of the old stadium’s debris was used to construct the new one or for public art initiatives.

Al Thumama Stadium

The Al Thumama Stadium, one of the four stadiums for the competition, is located in Doha and features a design inspired by the traditional Middle Eastern taqiyah hat. At the end of the World Cup, half of the stadium’s seats will be given to other nations.

Stadium 974, one of the eight host stadiums for the 2022 World Cup, may sound like a planet from the Star Wars saga.  Who would  have guessed? Stadium 974 appears more like a docking bay from the outside. Alternatively, the arena from Call of Duty: Warzone. Hey, at least this ground has layers of personality.

Khalifa International Stadium

This stadium will probably have the 2nd highest seating capacity in the 2022 FIFA  World Cup. This stadium has a seating capacity of 68030 and has been renovated from its earlier capacity of 50000, now it has 40000+ seating capacity. This stadium will host the 3rd place match, 5 group stage matches, and also 1 round of 16 ties. List of games hosted at Khalifa International Stadium

Liverpool  defeated Flamengo here in the 2019 Club World Cup final. Although more seats can be added to increase the venue’s capacity, it is still unknown whether the stadium will hold more than 40,000 spectators for the competition.

Al Janoub Stadium, one of Qatar’s many home stadiums, played host to the 2020 AFC Champions League final and hosts Al-Wakrah SC, a club that plays a fair amount of club football. The seating’s wave-like patterns are modeled after the traditional Dhow boats of the area, which are used by pearl divers in the Persian Gulf.
