Nancy Pelosi at NYC’s Global Citizen Music Event: When she unexpectedly showed up as a guest at the Global Citizen music event in Central Park on Saturday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was not warmly received.

According to a video posted on social media, Pelosi, who was dressed in a white pantsuit and scarf, appeared to be booed as she took the podium. Videos reveal that some boos could be heard right away when the house speaker began to speak on reducing carbon emissions and climate change.

She introduced herself and said, “I am here as speaker of the house to thank you for your bright advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and resolve as global citizens.

While some audience members applauded Pelosi, others heckled her from the audience, and the commotion persisted throughout the majority of her remarks. Pelosi said, The United States recently passed historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer, thanks to your assistance.

“It would reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and provide an unprecedented $370 billion to combat the climate issue.” Pelosi had decided to keep her remarks brief so as not to impede the playing of additional music. The audience continued to clamour over her statements.

An activist, and actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, was one of the show’s hosts. The California Democrat, who also attended the festival in 2016, stood backstage with her husband Nick Jonas.
