For those who couldn't get enough of the disastrous court case involving Johnny Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard's six-week defamation trial,
Tubi has created an original, straight-from-the-headlines film about it. The Depp/Heard Trial is a fictitious account of the event, in our opinion.
The free and ad-supported streaming service hosted the film's debut on September 30.
Mark Hapka, who played Depp on Days of Lives, and Megan Davis, who played Heard, star.
The movie strives to tell the story from both perspectives. In a scenario that is seen in the teaser, Depp's character exclaims, "This is not life; no one should have to go through this."
I have the right to explain what happened to me, the voice of Heard's character is heard saying.
Additionally, the video alludes to the TikTok craze that developed during the trial, in which people made fun of Heard's tearful testimony in court.
One social media user is heard saying, "Girl simply wants some attention!" in the teaser. The movie also stars Mary Carrig and Melissa Marty.
The trial is not the only subject of the film. Prior to the trailer, it also chronicles Depp and Heard's romance.
The trial, according to Tubi, was "the most viewed trial of the year." The case was sparked by an opinion piece Heard published in 2018
Despite the fact that she omitted Depp's name, it was widely believed that he was the man she accused of abusing her based on earlier allegations she made in public.
Depp won the case, and a jury decided that she should have to pay millions to her ex-wife.
